Fury Warriors got torn down and rebuilt, welcome to Azeroth After Dark, where every story comes from World of Warcraft Forever, the reimagined original Azeroth, still in beta. Gnome racial nerfed again, dungeon experience cut, and more. Lyra, our night elf lore keeper, is here to translate. Happy to. For context, Icy Veins says the beta just raised the level cap to 30, with 10 additional talent points and a new dungeon, Excavation Site: Wetlands.
Nearly everything we've got comes out of that build. Also with us, Morwen Ashgrave, who lives in arenas and high keys and always asks what the actual number is. And Durgan Stoutbrew, playing since the original launch. Morwen, what jumped out at you? A Warrior pass big enough to need a respec. And the reminder that this is beta, so it can all change tomorrow. Durgan, you've been out there leveling in it, haven't you?
Nonstop, lass. I've worn a groove in the road between taverns, and I've got opinions on all six of these. Warriors first, then. Blizzard posted a pile of Warrior updates in today's WoW Forever beta build, and Fury got another full pass. Lyra, for anyone new, what's a talent tree? A menu of small upgrades you spend points into as you level, shaping how your class plays. Fury is the Warrior specialization that fights with a weapon in each hand.
Blizzard's note says the goal is meaningful choices early and freed-up points later. And here's my number. Additional Rage generated from landing critical strikes is now 100 percent increased Rage, up from 75 percent. Rage is the resource Warriors build by hitting things. That one's a real increase, and I'll say so. The rest of the Fury pass only happened because a bug was giving Dual Wield Specialization's hit chance to both weapons, so their tests needed correcting.
Two talents gone, Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage, and new ones in, Lingering Rage and Furious Precision. If you're leveling a Fury Warrior on the beta, budget for a respec: Enrage no longer leads to Flurry. Death Wish does now. From the battlefield to the bookshelf. Still in the Forever beta, a reward from collecting books isn't locked to one class anymore. Lyra, how does the book thing even work?
Books are scattered all over the world, and collecting them unlocks new quests. Hit 20 books and you unlock Greater Friend of the Library, which hands you one of two rings. And here's the ring, Field Researcher's Loop. It used to be Rogue only, and now it's available to all classes. A Wowhead user mapped out the recommended books as Alliance, and Wowhead notes level 30 should make some of them easier.
Lovely and simple, that. If you melee at all on the beta, 20 books now buys you a ring instead of a shrug. Now a cut. In the latest WoW Forever build, the Gnome racial called Eureka got nerfed again. Lyra, unpack that for someone who just rolled a Gnome. A racial is a free ability you get just for being that race. Eureka makes your next three non-periodic damaging abilities cost 10 percent less and deal 10 percent more damage.
Periodic means damage that ticks over time, like a bleed. And now it touches those ticks not at all. The notes say Eureka no longer benefits periodic effects at all, and channeled spells don't count as periodics. Second nerf, mind. The first was a flat percent cut to the discount. So a Gnome Rogue's Garrote and Rupture, or a Warrior's Rend, get nothing from it now, and it's still beta, so it can move again.
This one hits everybody leveling. The latest beta build nerfs dungeon quest experience to slow things down. Durgan, how big's the cut? Dungeon quests now reward 50 percent less extra experience beyond normal quest values. Blizzard's note says they heard a great deal of feedback about playtesters leveling too fast. And that lands on an already controversial design in Forever, where quests got massively boosted experience while experience from mobs was slashed.
Some players feared leveling was too fast; others said weak mob experience killed the reason to repeat a dungeon. So: slower levels from dungeon quests. Nothing else changed in that note. And it's a beta build, so the number can move before launch. Next, a weapon, and this one's datamined, not a blue post. Verigan's Fist, the level 20 Paladin weapon, has a new effect in the latest build. Lyra, what's a proc?
An extra effect that fires off on its own while you're fighting. Verigan's Fist comes from the Test of Righteousness questline, and the new proc is called Holy Forgefire. There's the hammer. Holy Forgefire ignites the target for 39 to 59 Holyfire damage, and three times that against Fire Elementals and Earth Elementals. That's the fix Alliance folk were shouting for. With Forsaken Paladins in Forever, the Horde quest Old Fire-Eye awards Wolfsbane, which already had a damage proc with bonus damage to Worgen.
So, a livelier level 20 hammer, if this datamined change holds. Last story, and it's the one that made me laugh. Blizzard says the Murloc and Ogre transformations from Savory Whimsyfin Delight were never meant for us. Lyra, where did this food even come from? A new recipe found in Redridge Mountains in the first phase of the Forever beta. Think of it as the Alliance answer to Savory Deviate Delight, the old Barrens fish that turns you into a ninja or a pirate.
Short version, on screen. The Whimsyfin now uses an orc equivalent of the ninja and pirate outfits, and the beast shapes were placeholder art the whole time. The developer note says the prior transformations were placeholder, but they may reintroduce similar ones in the future. So, no Ogre at the feast, and no promise of one, either. That's your run through WoW Forever: a Fury rebuild, a ring opened up, a Gnome racial trimmed, slower dungeon leveling, a Paladin hammer with teeth, and a very brief Ogre career.
All six came from Wowhead, with Blizzard's own beta notes underneath them. And the phase two context came from Icy Veins, which notes the beta runs until it closes on October 22nd. Every full post is linked with the episode if you want the fine print. It's all beta, so write your talent plans in chalk, not stone. Thanks for spending the hour with us in the old world remade. See you next time.
